High-protein snacks: Throw in some mealworms, black oil sunflower seeds, or even scrambled eggs to give 'em the extra energy they need when it’s cold.
Calcium: Don’t forget the calcium for those eggshells! Oyster shell or a good calcium supplement will do the trick.
Greens and veggies: Even in the winter, chickens love some fresh greens. Toss 'em some kale, spinach, or cabbage to keep 'em happy and healthy.
Warm oatmeal or porridge: A warm breakfast on chilly mornings can give 'em a boost of energy and help with hydration.
Grit: Make sure they’ve got plenty of grit so they can properly digest all those grains, especially if you’re giving 'em extra corn.
Fatty treats: A little fat, like suet or lard, gives 'em extra energy to help stay warm through the winter chill.
And don’t forget to keep that water fresh and unfrozen – hydration’s still important, even when the temps drop!
